Should your baby need advanced care, The Nest Family Birthing Center also offers a NICU with doctors and staff trained to meet the care needs of our smallest patients. You can take comfort in knowing that we have providers who can address complications that may arise for you or your baby.
Our postpartum floor features family-friendly suites with the amenities new moms deserve. Mother can rest comfortably in a suite with a private bath and sleeping area while families can visit and bond in the adjoining spacious family room complete with sofa, restroom and dinette.
Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis recommends and supports rooming-in (keeping your baby with you during your stay) and encourages mothers to enjoy this important time with your new baby. Rooming-in has many benefits for you and your baby.
In the postpartum unit, Saint Francis practices couplet care where the same nurse provides care for well mother and baby during each shift. This helps address questions and facilitate communication.
The staff will help you understand your baby’s cues and assist you with breastfeeding and other newborn care to help you be more prepared and confident in your ability to take care of your baby when you get home. In addition, a certified lactation consultant is available for any questions you may have about breastfeeding.
At The Nest Family Birthing Center at Saint Francis Memphis, you have access to a private labor, delivery and recovery room and staff dedicated to making your stay comfortable. Our labor and delivery team consists of registered nurses, operating room technicians, and childbirth educators who work together with the goal of providing quality care. Our registered nurses are trained in high-risk obstetrical care and are trained in fetal monitoring.
Our team is experienced in caring for mothers and babies throughout both low- and high-risk pregnancies, and we’re dedicated to helping you reduce your risk of complications. A provider will identify, diagnose, and treat disorders or problems that may develop during your pregnancy. If you need a Caesarean section, we are committed to helping provide a safe delivery for your baby. Once your baby arrives, he or she will have monitoring to help ensure baby is comfortable and healthy, and to immediately notify our staff of any changes.
